"It started with a low light
Next thing I knew, they ripped me from my bed
And then they took my blood type
It left a strange impression in my head
You know that I was hoping
That I could leave this star-crossed world behind
But when they cut me open
I guess I changed my mind" - Spaceman, The Killers
A one-page comic based on a song for Sequential Projects at Lesley University, Spring 2025. I wanted to explore if I could create the feeling I get when listening to Spaceman. Brandon Flowers doesn't really want to give the true meanings to his written poetry; he leaves it open to interpretation. I always head-cannoned this song as someone who attempted on their life due to not being alien or "other" like everyone else. The experience of being abducted by aliens, spoken to in unintelligible language, and then shipped back down to earth with some pills to make life more bearable. I look back at this piece months later, perhaps cringing a bit at my vulnerability. However some may relate and find solace in not being alone with these feelings.
